Bonjour, Team Biotherm, in Kiel!

5. July, one o'clock at night – Team Biotherm arrives in Kiel from Sweden. Anjoscha from Team Kiel-Marketing provides a RIB for docking, then they tie up. Arrived for The Ocean Race Europe 2025.

The next morning we clear up. Paul Meilhart and Jackson Bouttell are already on their way home, and on board is co-skipper Amelie Grassi, who skippered the yacht to Kiel. I bring a few fresh croissants, French rolls and less fresh remnants of my school French from MOBY. Bon appetit - Dankeschön!

The racing yacht is moored in the middle of the other sailing boats, moored at an angle so that the port foil has enough room. Is an easterly wind to be expected? A westerly wind is fine, but an easterly wind could push the foil against the pier, so the team decides to position a fender here too, just to be on the safe side.

Do I want to come on board? What a question!

There is still a bit of a bustle on board, loose ends here, Bouttell's duffel bag there, cups and a packet of toast hanging below deck. I'm always amazed at how little space the crews sometimes spend months travelling in the toughest conditions. "There is very little comfort, especially on our boat. Paul [Meilhat] says you either fit into a team like this or you don't."

Nobody is forced. Alors ... on y va.

For all onlookers: The Biotherm is moored in the harbour basin near the Seeburg. From 28 July, the entire team will come to Kiel to get the yacht ready, change sails and then move her to the Blücherbrücke, where the other teams in The Ocean Race Europe will also be moored.

From 6-10 August, the race event will then take place along the entire Kiellinie, with the start on Sunday 10 August.
